Box Car Racer

Box Car Racer is a side project for Tom and Travis, as if they're not busy enough. They're much like Blink 182, just without the Mark and a little more hardcore punk than how the media describes Blink as pop-punk. Travis plays the drums and Tom plays the guitar (makes sense), but who's plays bass and extra guitar? Anthony Celestino and Dave Kennedy from the band Over My Dead Body, of course! The foursome come together as a happy little family. Their album is out. It's self titled and it's GOOD!.Visit the official Box Car Racer site here. You can go to the CDnow website and listen to sound clips of all the songs. Check it out.

The Transplants

Travis is busy, busy! On top of Blink 182 and Box Car Racer, he has a new job. He is the drummer, of course, in a new band called The Transplants. It's a combination of the Man (Travis) playing drums, Rancid's singer and guitarist Tim Armstrong and Rob Aston also on vocals and the turntables. Rancid's Matt Freeman will be with them on tour. Needless to say, The Transplants are also punk rock music. Good deal, can't have too many of those (and, I'm not being sarcastic). Wow! That's a lot of work and no play. But, is Travis a dull boy? Nope, he loves the music and the touring . . . "A tour is like a vacation for me," Barker said. "I mean, you get to hang out, do press, play music. If you want to call that a job, it's not. I mean, it's a job [in the sense that] you have to do it every day, but it's more fun than anything. You could never look at it like, 'Oh man, this sucks.' 'Cause it doesn't." (as reported on MTV.com) More power to ya'! The Transplants very first album, self-titled, went on sell October 22nd. The album was produced by Tim Armstrong and recorded in his basement. Its worth a trip to your local record store.
